Overview

Kori Danda, a recently unveiled vantage point in Nepal's Annapurna Region, is nestled amid the breathtaking landscapes that showcase some of the world's most majestic mountains, including the renowned Annapurna peak. Trekking serves as an exceptional means to explore and embrace the beauty of Nepal, and Kori Danda has emerged as a popular trekking destination. Despite being promoted as a newly discovered route by travel companies, it has been a well-known trekking trail for quite some time. Prior to the development of other prominent routes like Ghorepani Poon Hill, Annapurna Base Camp, and the Annapurna Circuit in the 1970s and 1980s, Sikles, including Kori Danda, was among the limited trekking options available. The recent surge in Kori Danda's popularity as a viewpoint can be attributed to its awe-inspiring mountain vistas.

At an elevation of 3800 meters, Kori Danda provides sweeping views of prominent peaks like Lamjung Himal, Annapurna II, and Machhapuchhare. This trek, also known as the Sikles (Kori Danda) trek, immerses travelers in Gurung culture as they pass through the picturesque Gurung village of Sikles. The journey begins with a jeep drive from Pokhara to Sikles, covering approximately 47 kilometers. The trek is moderate, featuring rocky trails and limited vegetation. Accommodations range from Gurung homestays to lodges and campsites. A notable highlight is the Kapuche Glacier Lake, the world's lowest altitude glacial lake at 2546 meters. The lake, surrounded by snow-capped mountains, undergoes freezing in winter, and occasional avalanches add to its dramatic charm. The trek is a captivating experience, and booking includes Kori Danda Trek maps for exploration.
